Viewing Adobe Illustrator Files in Files iOS

Hi guys,

So Adobe Illustrator files (.AI) can be previewed within OSX as a thumbnail or you can use the spacebar for Quick View which is great if you just want to see a file before opening the program.

Now the question I have is why in the iOS Files App can I see the thumbnail but then it won't let me Quick View the file? It just says the name of the document.ai and then how many kb it is. How is it native in OSX and not in iOS Files?

Is there a fix or workaround to Quick View this file type? DropBox does it without any problems.

Thanks

Oh yeah I don’t deny that but the two systems are getting closer in their functionality but it’s odd how Dropbox can view them and Files can’t considering it’s native is OSX. Dropbox is just a file viewer and cloud storage.

it would just be nice and I was wondering if there was a workaround. It just seems I’ll use my Adobe cloud storage instead and the Creative Cloud app to view them.

thanks anyway

Yes .ai files have always been able to be using Mac OS 'Quick Look/Preview'. Seems to be no longer the case and it's driving me nuts!

I'm not sure at what point it happened, either following an OS or CC update, but for several months now, .ai files display only the AI icon and files have to be opened to view them.

Before you suggest, yes, all files are saved with PDF compatibility, not protocols have changed which might cause the loss of preview.

As a graphic designer juggling thousands of AI files, I'm understandably frustrated.

Any help would be much appreciated.
