How do I unlock my iphone from another network

carrier says they do not lock iphones but not works on there network

If it says SIM Invalid the old carrier did lock the phone at point of sale. Only the old carrier can unlock it.

If you look in Settings, General, About what does it say after Network provider (or Carrier) lock?

iPhone 7 network locked I have moved my iPhone 7 to a new carrier from AT&T. The new carrier says the phone is locked and cannot be used on their network. Can it be unlocked?
