Apple iPhone 8plus. Need Apple ID and pw

Husband is unable to download apps due to forgotten password. Tried to reset... still doesn’t work. Can’t access iCloud without password

Contact Apple Support through chat line. They set up time to call me. They spoke with me on the phone and went step by step to solve our problem. We now have correct apple ID and a new password. THANKS to everyone for all the suggestions.

Do you have a Rescue or Notification email address on the ID? The reset password email could be sent to that email address.

Have you tried contacting Apple again?

If you have 2 Factor Authentication enabled, you can use Account Recovery. The Recovery Process is an automated process and the length of time it takes can vary a lot. Apple ID Support can only answer your questions. They can't intervene in or speed up the process. The article below has some suggestions to shorten the the time the process takes.

If you forgot the Apple ID password, enter the Apple (iCloud) ID, and click Forgot Password. See if you can get a Rescue or Notification email option if necessary.

Unfortunately this hasn't worked. The apple id is linked to a closed email acct. we never get the "forgot" password option. we notified apple, took over a week... finally told to reset apple pw. TRIED!!!! it wouldn.t allow. Very frustrated. Thanks for any and all suggestions! Ready to delete entire phone.
