I appreciate the responses but I know it's possible. My boyfriend changed his iCloud email because he wanted something that sounded more mature, which is my situation as well. I'll be calling apple for advice later this week. I'll update this with answers
Did you completely ignore my answer, which Apple marked as Apple recommended? Apple recommended literally means that I gave the correct info and options you’ll have.
It is not possible and most likely your boyfriend set up an alias instead, or didn’t have an @icloud account to begin with. Calling Apple will be a waste of your and their time because I’ve already given you the info and option you can use.
You cannot change an iCloud email address, however you can create an alias. More details at https://support.apple.com/guide/icloud/use-email-aliases-mm6b1a490a/icloud
You can only use the original @iCloud.com address that came with our Apple ID.
