AirPods Pro voice to text not working

I am unable to compose any form of text with voice through my AirPod pro. I have the iPhone 12 pro max. The Airpods pair fine. I can hear great when in use, but when I hit the microphone to either compose a text or perform a search, the microphone won’t even load. When in iMessage, pressing the microphone button in the bottom right corner will show a brief round blue load icon in the text entry field, But will fail to allow voice to pick up. Voice to text works fine without AirPods connected, and I am composing this question as such. These are the steps I have taken thus far:

-unpair/disconnect/forget/reset airpods

-restarted iPhone 12 Pro Max

-disconnect/reconnect Bluetooth

-complete charge on phone and airpods

-microphone only right/left

-composed voice memos

-changed noise canceling settings

PLEASE HELP! both the phone and airpods are new within the last 2 months.

I’m not sure why it works but I put both my AirPod back in the case then I took out only the left and put it in my ear. For some reason it picked up my voice. And then put in the right AirPod and now they are both working. I have no clue why the right one would not activate the microphone but the left one did and now they both work together. Hope that helps.

Hi there Cecfire,

We understand that you are unable to use Dictation with your iPhone when your AirPods Pro are connected. We’d like to help however we can.

To confirm, does Dictation work as expected when you pair the AirPods Pro to another device? Are you able to use "Hey Siri" with your AirPods Pro or does something similar happen?

Use Siri on all your Apple devices

Also, let’s make sure your iPhone is fully updated:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Cheers!

Hello,

I appreciate your response. Hey Siri does not work with the AirPods. Siri does not respond at all to voice with the AirPods connected. Also, pressing and holding the power button will not activate Siri with those connected. I have not tried to connect them to another device seeing as these are my only two Apple devices. My phone is fully updated.

I have a similar problem with voice message from WhatsApp or call, when I call my right AirPod Pro doesn’t work I can’t hear anything and left works fine but anyone can hear me. Voice message are empty, I went to apple support and they changed both but after a day I have same problem. I think it’s software problems, because works fine but after some calls or some messages it start the problem, I put on the case and took it out and works fine again but after a time I have same problem.
