To further protect your personal data and secure the seized device please head on over to the Find My app on any apple device signed into the Apple ID of the seized device and follow the instructions below:
Devices < Select the seized device (ex: Johns iPhone 12) < Mark as Lost < Activate.
Where is the Apple security? I gave that much money and now I am in danger Apple has been copied by someone else.
Apple provides the security capability. It is/was up to you to set up all the prerequisites - such as Find My.
