How do I delete multiple message at 1 time on a MacBook Air, Big Sur ver 11.2.3, messages ver 14.0

How do I delete multiple message at 1 time on a MacBook Air, Big Sur ver 11.2.3, messages ver 14.0
MacBook Air (2020 or later)
Click the first message, hold the shift/command key down and click the next ones to select.
Messages > Edit > Delete
Confirm.

I tried this but was still only able to delete 1 msg at a time. I was looking for a solution like select messages in the iPad for the Mac
