Adding new songs to existing playlist?

I have the 1.1.3.3 version of Apple Music. I haven't added music in over one year. Now I seem to be unable to do that. Is there any one to buy just one song and add it to a playlist? Or is this no longer possible. If necessary to have some sort of subscription, how do I do this, or figure out if I already have a subscription? Thanks.

You should be able to purchase music from the iTunes Store. Subscribing to Apple Music is optional. Select iTunes Store at the top right and use the search box at the top left.
