Eraser in Markup not working

Hi all,

I have the iPhone 12 Pro, 14.4.2.

When I try to use the eraser function in Markup in photo Edit, it does nothing. It only erases a markup that was added to the photo (e.g., if I draw a line on the photo using one of the Markup tools, the Eraser would erase it) but it does not erase anything on the photo if it was not added as a markup. In the past, the eraser would erase anything on the photo regardless of whether it was added as a markup or not. Is there a way to enable it to erase an unmarked photo? if not, this is a real downgrade!!
