Second display not recognized

My home office setup has a docking station with one display connected via the HDR port and a second display connected directly to my computer using a display port to USB C adaptor. This setup worked beautifully with my 2019 MacBook Pro. I recently switched jobs and now have a new 2020 MacBook Pro but this computer will only recognize one display at a time. If I unplug one, it will connect to the other automatically so I know the cables and ports are working. I tried restarting and the detecting display button but neither will allow my computer to recognize both displays at the same time. Any suggestions?

"If you're using a Mac with Apple silicon [as yours probably is], you can connect a single external display to your Mac using one of the Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports. Docks don't increase the number of displays you can connect as an extended desktop."
