Watch does not ring for phone calls after using Wireless CarPlay in BMW

Can you please advise if there will be a fix to this issue that seems to be affecting many owners of BMWs with Apple Watch? I've reset my phone each time to correct the issue, but that has stopped working and my watch just never gives me an alert for a phone call. It does give me alerts for everything else. I'm running iOS 14.4.2 on an iPhone 12 Pro Max with a Series 5 Apple Watch model A2093 running version 7.3.3 (18s830). I drive a 2019 BMW X3.
