I want to sell my iMac at an Apple Store instead of shipping it with fear of getting lost in transit or damage. Is that possible?

You can trade it in. There's a difference. You won't get cash for it, you will get an Apple gift card you can use towards the purchase of something else from Apple, or a direct discount if you buy something in the same transaction.
