Cable printing with New M1 MacBook Air

Why won't my new MacBook Air M1 print with cables? The old one did. New one communicates well.

MacBookPro (13-inch, M1, 2020) MacBook Air (M1, 2020) Mac mini (M1, 2020)

Use these ports with displays and other devices that connect

using either a Thunderbolt 3 cable or USB-C cable.

Other quality brands likely use similar arrangement of adapter/cable to fit.

Check details in the returns policy before purchase.

Thank you for your response.

I did buy an adapter for the printer cable to my new MacBook air.

The new laptop does communicate with the printer. ( I turned off the printer and my laptop and the appropriate message came up. When I powered the printer back up, the communication worked, the printing icon disappeared as it should.

no printing occurred and no jobs were left on the printer cue.

Maybe driver issue, not sure. I'm not that smart though.
