About the best steps ahead, may be to find/buy retail Snow Leopard 10.6.3

+ update to 10.6.8. (Or run linux ubuntu, if you really want to keep this Mac.)

A further Upgrade to Lion 10.7.x ~ requires base+update to 10.6.8, + buy lion.

That's a long way to go, for a 'lesser Mac OS' than Snow Leopard!!

With my MacBookk1.1 (1.83GHz coreduo first-edition) + upgrade OSX10.5.8

and 2GB RAM from OWC online; plus 7200-RPM 150GB SATA HDD. It's quick.

Also got NewerTech replacement battery (shipped from OWC.) Only thing

iffy now, is TenFourFox browser. 'Volunteer support' is near end of project.

This macbook was given to me. Required minor repair; but ran, so I fixed it.

Should you have software to run, offline or projects made with 'vintage kit'

yours may be OK to play around with; until old hardware gives up the ghost.
