If you have full access to your iPhone, then do so.
First, sign out your Apple ID and Find My iPhone.
Go to:
Settings -> Apple ID (Your Name) -> Find My.
Sign out of Find My iPhone. Then go back to the Apple ID menu and select Sign Out at the bottom.
Now your Apple ID has been removed from the device and it is ready to be reset.
Go to:
Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings.
Confirm with your code. Your iPhone will now be restored to factory settings and all content will be deleted.
If you do NOT have access to your iPhone because you forgot the code, then your phone must be in Recovery Mode and reset from a computer.
On your computer. If you use a PC, download the latest version of iTunes. It can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. If you are using Mac then you can just get started.
1) Connect your iPhone XR to your PC / Mac
2) Quickly press Volume Up, then quickly press Volume Down, and then hold down the Power Button until your iPhone restarts and starts up in Recovery Mode.
Recovery Mode is a black screen, with a computer and cable icon.
On your computer. Now you can select Update or Restore. Update is trying to update your device.
Restore deletes EVERYTHING and restores your device to factory settings. Choose Restore.
