Question: iPad Mini 4 Stuck in Recovery Mode - Won't Update - Won't Restore

I never update my ipad. I was on ios 9 lol. I tried to go from ios 9 to ios 14, connected to iTunes on the Computer. Did not work at all. Now I'm stuck in recovery mode.


I can't get out of recovery mode, I have tried everything (even 3rd party apps).


I can't restore it, I get error code 4010. I can't update it, get error code 75.


Just have a unless hunk of metal now.


I am also located in the Bahamas currently, so it's going to be hard to take it into a specialist for repair.


Been trying to fix it on my own for at least 2-4 hours (on different days), with no luck, I have given up on it now.


Any help would be appreciated.

Try the information here, If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support I do not see an error 4010 or error 75 in this list of errors. iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support

Thanks for the quick reply.


I have tried everything there, those are the errors I did get, I can do it again and screenshot it if needed. Just got off the phone with Apple support and they were unable to fix it either. I may just have to wait to take it into an Apple store in Florida, should be going there in a month I guess...


Or I can pay $20-40 for a "full version" of a 3rd party "IOS Fixer Program", but who knows if that will work either. I tried 2 or 3 of those free versions that said they could get out of recovery mode for free and had errors doing that too.


Not having much luck... Wish I didn't try to update it in the first place. You'd think it wouldn't be that hard to restore it?? I don't even care about anything that's saved on the device, I just want to get into it and start using it again.


Not sure what to try at this point...

I don't doubt that you saw those errors, I'm just saying that Apple does not provide any information about them. If you have already contacted Apple Support and they cannot help, you are going to have to wait. These 3rd party software choices are not a good thing, and could really corrupt the device to where it cannot be fixed. Good luck waiting to get to Apple.
