I clicked on the USPS text message scam

I received a text from USPS today that said "your package is ready for delivery" and had an URL that took me to a website with Amazon logo. The prompt encouraged me to continue with the click on something to get a free iPad. at that point, I realized that I fell for a scam message, so I didn't do anything. But, I was looking online and noticed that the scammers can download malware on my phone and get my info with that. How can I make sure there's no malware on my phone and, how can I make sure I am safe?
