M1 Clock Speed (Revisited)

In another thread, rylandgoldman responded:

The M1 chip has a clock speed of 3.2 GHz. It has an 8 core CPU and 7-8 core GPU. According to Apple, it is 3.5x faster than a quad-core 1.2 GHz Intel Core i7 processor.

I'm wondering if this is a typographical error, as I would definitely expect a 3.2 GHz 8 core processor to be faster than a 1.2 GHz 4 core processor.
