Blocking text messages with Textkiller

I have unwanted spam text messages and you can't block the sender. They come from a different email address each time to a random group of 20 phone numbers. I found an app call Textkiller that is successfully filtering them and moving to junk on my iPhone & iPad, but these messages still appear on my iMac. The app is installed on both iPhone & iPad, but it not available for the iMac. I thought with the iCloud that the messages would synch up, but unfortunately that is not the case. I still have to delete the messages from my computer. Any advice?

Welcome Whoop95,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, your iMac isn't blocking spam/phishing messages. We'll do our best to assist with this.

Apple now has some built-in options for the iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices for blocking unknown contacts. See: Block phone numbers, contacts, and emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch Check out section, 'Filter messages from unknown senders'.

When you block contacts or unknown contacts on your iPhone, it will also add those as contacts to your blocked list on your other devices.

Specifically block messages in the Messages app: Block messages in Messages on Mac

Or you could block anyone except your contact list: Set up communication limits in Screen Time on Mac

We'd recommend using these methods, so they sync across your devices.

Hoping this helps out, take care!

Hey Whoop95,

In that case, when you use an iOS app to accomplish something, it would have to be supported on the Mac, as well. From what you've mentioned the app works on your iPhone and iPad, but not your Mac; so the app is likely not supported for macOS.

We'd recommend removing the Textkiller app to test and use the built-in block Messages suggestions above to properly sync those blocked contacts and messages to your Mac, as well.

Have a lovely week!
