Can you share AirTags with family members?
Can two accounts track the same airtag? Can me and my wife track the same airtag if we are in the same family account?

If it were possible to share an AirTag, then it would be impossible to stop coercion. Someone in a domestic abuse situation could be made to share access to their AirTag and Apple has therefore prevented this.
Regrettably, the answer to everyone with a good reason to share an AirTag is the same solution that will work for anyone with a bad reason. Buy two AirTags.
True, it's more money, and you can imagine Apple is both glad about that and also figuring that the extra cash is an extra barrier to abusers. But the people arguing that you cannot share an AirTag also seem to unthinkingly assume you can't put two AirTags on an item." Source:
Review: AirTag sets out to do one thing, and does it near perfectly

Maybe they would drop it or quickly go searching to find where the tracker is then discard it.
I don't believe Android phones can track/forward the location nor get an alert. An AirTag can emit a sound though.
Just bought a four pack with cases but it may all go back until this is fixed. How can this not work with family sharing when it’s meant to track non-apple products that the family shares? Really apple? I understand someone else can’t set up a tag that is already in use but I can’t share it with someone that will be using the item? 👎
I held out replacing my older tiles for several years waiting for product that had short range wide band for direction and distance. After the airtag disappointment, I bought the Tile Pros. Although it doesn't have the distance and direction capability, the range is spectacular at well over 400 feet. It's literally 10x the distance of the airtags and they are super load. In retrospect, I'm really glad the airtags didn't work out because I would never have bought the Tile Pros. The bummer about the airtags is that EVEN if apple fixes this, I'm on the Tile Pros now for at least the next two years at which point I'll re-evaluate again.

How does "All she has to do is associate (set up) these AirTags with her Apple ID." solve the problem?????
It completely solves the problem because the lady owns the AirTags, owns the Apple ID, and sees the tracking and is responsible for it. She tracks her keys. She tracks her purse. Problem solved.

Yea, you didn't read the thread or the actual problem. Problem not solved.
So my original answer...."Um no".
APPLE, PLEASE FIX ASAP!!
My daughter has autism, and we bought the Airtag specifically to find her if she runs off… likewise with our pets. My husband and I both need to be able to find our daughter and pets, should they run off and need to be found. Family sharing of tracking devices is essential… ASAP. Thank you!!! (Also, we wove my daughter’s into a wristband/hair scrunchie so she’s not embarrassed to wear it and that works perfect! Maybe this sort of item… wristband, etc. could be offered as well, for young kids.)
It’s a bad news for I just notice and experiencing now. I am travelling right now and suppose my family to take care of my dog with airtag, but they just can’t use its function because I am too far away from my dog=airtag on dog, I think apple need to enhance family share or sort of inviting share function to increase airtag flexibility

This is an intentional limitation due to privacy concerns.
If this was a privacy issue, why can I follow on Find My, at any time, where my wife's iPad, iPhone & Apple Watch are ?
Because she gave consent.
I suspect you are right that this was intentional, but I just don't see what the difference is, in following where my wife's car keys are, assuming she gave consent ?
But...I want my husbands phone to help me find my things.
As an example, I lose or have my purse stolen. The purse airtag would be with my stolen phone.
Obviously like the 16 million times a day I lose my phone (slight exaggeration), I would want to use my husband's find my iPhone ne to find my lost or stolen purse with iPhone in it.
But obviously if I purchased an airtag, I want to track my stuff. If my stuff that has my iphone in it was stolen or misplaced, this does no good.
Tell me one couple who doesn't look for the other ones iphone at least once a week. That's why I thought this would be good using find my phone technology.

All that’s required to find your iPhone is your Apple ID and password. See item 1 here.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen - Apple Support
This has absolutely nothing to do with AirTags.
“Tell me one couple who doesn't look for the other ones iphone at least once a week.”
As I said, that remark has absolutely nothing to do with AirTags. Find My iPhone, which is the relevant technology in that statement, was around long before AirTags, and AirTags are simply not involved in that process.

You missed the point of their question. They find each others iPhones. HOW DO THEY FIND EACH OTHERS AIRTAGS!
Still trying to decide if you're just intentionally trolling or if you just don't get it.

I answered Ann10ann’s literal statement. You’re the one who jumped in and inferred what you thought the point might be. I’m finished responding to you about this. Have a good day.

No, you did not. And no I did not.
