AirTag activation lock?

Check the description under Privacy and Security Built In

It does not exactly say that it has an activation lock but if a user detects an unknown AirTag, they can tap it with their iPhone or NFC-capable device and instructions will guide them to disable the unknown AirTag.

Anyhoo - it is really weird Apple keeps such a IMPORTANT feature as a secret - it is like they would announce iPhone 13 and...... did not say if it has Activation Lock feature or....... maybe they removed.

We don't get crystal balls when we achieve higher levels.

Also, speculation is not permitted here on this community. Until Apple publishes information, it would be speculation to discuss it.

IF I would have level 6 or 8 I would not even answer for this (mine) question - because........ why to answer....... I do not know?

You need to have achieved Level 6 to have access to the. Lounge community that post is from.

These are user forums, which you would know if you’d paid any attention when signing up for an account to post here. People posting here, regardless of their user level, provide information based on their actual experience with Apple products. Nobody here has any experience with an announced but yet not available Apple product other that what Apple publicly provides. Expecting more from anyone here is unrealistic, and then criticizing them for not knowing it is just rude.

This is not Apple corporate technical support. We are users helping fellow users with what we know from our own experience with Apple products and services.

Let me give you the real answer, there is a feature that Apple didn’t mention but has been discovered by reviewers called “Pairing Lock” this effectively means while the AirTag is linked to your Apple ID, it can’t be paired to another.
