How to remotely erase an older phone from my new phone?

The help article tells how to erase your current phone and restore it to factory settings.

I want to erase a device listed in my devices (an older phone) but this older device (iPhone 4) is not in my city, so I need remote access directions to erase it so someone else can use it as their phone.

What do I do?
