How to send a photo via iMessage on iPad

I have used the instructions for sending a photo using iPad to my friend's mobile number, i.e. tap Photos etc etc., but it still didn't work. I'm using the NBN fixed wireless in our home, an iPad 3rd Generation. So what is going wrong for me? It has also failed when I have taken the photo, clicked Share, entered the contact then sent.

Hi again LoobyfromLismore,

Do you have an iPhone? To be able to send messages and photos from the iPad in green you need to have an iPhone with Text Message Forwarding turned on. You would follow the instructions in this article on your iPhone to set that up: How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac.

We hope this helps!

Hi there LoobyfromLismore,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you are trying to share a photo by Messages using your iPad. Are the photos being sent as an iMessage or as an MMS? You can tell by the color of the message. Blue is for iMessage and green is for MMS.

If it is an MMS, you would need to have Text Message Forwarding turned on. Learn how here: How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac.

We hope this helps!

Many thanks for your quick response.

Following the instructions from the link, still unsuccessful. The photo is being sent to my friend is GREEN - not Blue - from the iPad.

I went to iPad, Settings, scrolled down to MESSAGES - not iMessages - iMessage circle is green. Send & Receive lists my mobile and email addresses.

The same photo was sent to another friend - in BLUe - as a test, and it was delivered.

Sent the same message to another friend - in Green - and it was not delivered.

Both the Green people are not using Apple, whereas the Blue lady is.
