The iPhone 12 Pro Max can use two different phone numbers, but only if one of your two carriers can provision the phone using eSIM. The other phone number uses an ordinary nano SIM physical card. Given that one of your phone numbers is provisioned via eSIM and the other is provisioned via physical SIM, the phone will accept a ringing phone call on either phone number and can place phone calls using either number. You can also use this feature to use the data plan of one or the other accounts, for example by buying a local data SIM when traveling abroad to avoid roaming charges.
