Safari hijacked by yahoo search

On my iMac Safari was returning search results from yahoo.com when I did a search on the google.com page.

The problem turned out to be a web proxy. Go into your advanced network settings on the Proxys tab and make sure the Web Proxy and Secure Web Proxy boxes are not checked (unless you know they should be, but for me those had never been used and should not have been checked).

Safari redirecting Google to yahoo I did everything I found in the web about how to remove the malware that redirects search from Google to Yahoo. I'm using last version of Catalina with everything updated. I did not buy any "virus removal" and did not reset Safari to not loose my passwords. Is there anything els I can do to stop this to happen? This is really annoying, I just clean Google Chrome very easily but Safari is a mistery.... and no support from Apple to that... Safari Would Not Connect How can you stop searchmaster? Don't suggest downloading Malwarebytes! After trying it, my Safari (and Chrome) browsers would not connect to the internet. I uninstalled Malwarebytes, but that didn't work. After running diagnostics, one suggestion was to uncheck the web proxy HTTP from list of protocols. (System preferences, Network, wifi, advanced, proxies tab). That did not work. After thinking about It I remembered seeing another proxy checked. Went back and unchecked Socks, then clicked OK. Thankfully, that fixed it and my browsers connected. I don't know if Malwarebytes caused this or it was because they quaranteed something (ADWARE, etc.) that caused this.
