All of a sudden, half of my contacts disappeared and are showing as numbers on my text messages. And it’s random - it’s not the most recent numbers or any sort of pattern. Anyone else? How do I fix? HELP!!!

No, I’ve never lost half my contacts.
Contacts are tied to email accounts. Have you recently deleted or disabled an email account?
Try this:
Make sure Contacts in iCloud is turned on. On your iPhone, go to:
Settings -> Apple ID (Your Name) -> iCloud.
Find contacts and make sure it is on.
If your contacts are gone then you can try to restore them here:
From a PC or Mac, go to: https://www.icloud.com
Go to Account Settings. Scroll down a bit. In the Advanced section, you will find "Restore Contacts"
