ITUNES SYNCHING OF CALENDAR AND CONTACTS WITH OUTLOOK

Itunes is showing the following message and I am panicking as I really rely on this facility.

"Support for the synching calendars and contacts has been deprecated and will be removed in a future version of itunes".

What are other Iphone users doing to overcome this problem? Any other apps I can use?

Thanks.

I agree that her response is confusing.

But I believe that she is saying something similar to what I was saying.

The way we have been syncing is like this:

iPhone <- > iTunes <-> Outlook desktop.

I think that she is saying replace iTunes with Outlook.com, just like I was saying replace iTunes with Microsoft 365. Similar concept.

iPhone <- > Outlook.com <-> Outlook desktop

or

iPhone <- > Microsoft 365 <-> Outlook desktop

There are various plans of both Outlook.com and Microsoft 365. Outlook.com is more geared towards personal use and Microsoft 365 more geared towards business. I am more familiar with Microsoft 365 business accounts so that is why I am thinking of using that one.

Let me know if this helps.

My main concern is that all of these work arounds will either involve me using Outlook.com or iCloud for personal data. - and they're more complicated than the present perfectly functional arrangement! I'm much happier running things from my own hard drive and my own NAS server than having to depend on other providers for data security. I SO hope that Apple's listening to us and reverses this retrograde decision.

I just looked at CopyTrans Contacts & it doesn't seem to be a solution:

  1. It's not free
  2. More importantly, it says that it will "Manage your iPhone and cloud calendars". That's not the issue. You can already sync iPhone with iCloud for free & that's not going away. This topic is about syncing Outlook (calendar &/or contacts) with iPhone.

Noticed this iTunes message just today when about to begin a backup of my XR using iTunes.

I've been using a FREE add in on my outlook called CodeTwo Sync for iCloud. It allows me to sync my calendar and my contacts in real time. I use a windows based laptop and my wife uses a macbook and we both use iPhones. We need to share our calendars and contacts and this allows me to create meetings and appointments and update my contacts in Outlook and they are shared with my wife's iCloud account so they appear on her calendar and contacts too. This will also sync on our iPhones as well.

This may be a solution for the windows based crowd possibly.

This is a nightmare. I sync all my Contacts and Calendar back and forth with Outlook via iTunes. I don't even use iCloud at all as I backup my iphone manually to my computer. Bad enough awhile ago they took away syncing notes and tasks/reminders. I miss the easy direct syncing Blackberry's had. I don't get why apple phones don't have something similar. At least itunes was still working though and now that's gone.

That's unfortunate. I don't know if there's a way to go back to a previous version. Apple has always made that difficult, if not impossible. However, if you create daily backups on your computer, you can restore to a day previous to your iTunes update. Any new files or other work since the backup would be lost, but you can first copy those to an external drive or thumbdrive.

I just Googled this, but haven't tried it. Seems to say that there's 2 ways to sync Outlook on your computer with iPhone. Their first method is what Diane Poremsky said in my first post above.
