Apple is just doing its best to alienate their customers. I tried iCloud... And lost over 10 years of personal and work based calendar and contact data (thankfully I was able to restore about 60% of it from computer backups after about a week of non-stop effort). I actually went through the waterboarding torture of calling in for customer support and their technician could not help me (I was trying to set up Active-Sync on my devices). Her suggestion was just do it manually but now they want to take that away. Anyone who has lived in the Apple world knows that, on a whim, they will turn their user's world upside down as it suits them and their real customers, the people they sell your data to. I DO NOT trust MY data to Apple, Microsoft, Google, or any off-site platform. I just bought a 2020 iPad Pro last year but I guarantee I will not be purchasing any more Apple or iTunes products going forward. Unfortunately, most of the 3rd-party apps I've seen are based on drinking the iCloud/Google/Microsoft Kool Aide and require entrusting my privacy to these oligarchical despots. In the meantime, no more updates to iTunes or iPads for me.
