Someone airdropped a picture into my phone - Known problem?

Was in a hotel lobby and someone airdropped a picture into my phone. I was looking at my pics and saw one that I didn't take. I called my cell phone provider who said this is a problem if you have an Iphone and Apple is working on a fix. If this is true, why haven't Iphone users been notified?

I turned off airdrop, WIFI and hotspot functions, but now how am I going to use those features without worrying this will happen again?

Anyone else?

iPhone XR, iOS 14

Hi LifetimeBinging,

We see you have some concerns regarding someone else sending you an unwanted photo via AirDrop. We can certainly help to provide info on that for you.

It sounds like you may have your AirDrop settings set to allow everyone to send an AirDrop, if they're in range of you. You may certainly change this, so that only your Contacts can send them.

This page has the steps on how to change the AirDrop settings, if needed: How to use AirDrop on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

In particular, just scroll down to the "How to adjust AirDrop settings" section, which can help switch that setting.

Take care.
