Where is MacIntosh HD Data

I respectfully disagree with Cappy's Jul 10, 2020, 10:36 response to Norswede5656 question of Jul 10 2020 @10:29 pm.

I just "upgraded" from High Sierra to Catalina. I now only see Macintosh HD on desktop and in Finder. In disk Utility I see Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD - Data.

But I cannot access, open or otherwise view any of the 100GB of data a had located on the High Sierra Macintosh HD in any effort to reach Mac-HD-Data. Nothing appears to be accessible from the Catalina Macintosh HD. Where is my Storage Foldesr and where are my 100GB of data?

If you see a Macintosh HD - Data volume mounted in Finder, it is an orphan that resulted from an incorrect reinstall or multiple installs of either Catalina or Big Sur.

The Data volume is mounted to /System/Volumes/Data in both Catalina and Big Sur. That mount point is not displayed in the Finder unless you actually go to /System/Volumes/Data.

Open Disk Utility and select each of the - Data volumes.

The one mounted to /Volumes can be removed by clicking the Remove Volume button (–).
