I went with the second suggestion. I have been using Big Sur for quite a while, a lot of changes. I guess Big Sur will be fine if you buy a new computer, with the new chip. I won't be at least for quite a while. Big Sur was a big slow down for me. 32G memory, my iMac used to fly, lately it is just weird like it can't handle the 32G.
