Persistent bell

My MacBook pro has a bell noise that does not appear to be prompted by receipt of an e mail, message or anything. How do I make it stop?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Notifications. Look over each one and see if there are any audible alerts being given to anything.

Also check your Sound preferences.
