WatchOS 7.4 not updating

I want to update my Apple Watch series 4 to watchOS 7.4, but I keep getting “An error occurred”. I have unpaired my watch and paired it again. Still not working.

I do not have WIFI ( I use my iPhone pro 12 if I need WIFI), but I have free Mobil data. I have read somewhere that updating won´t work without WIFI. Can it really be the case, that I have to drop my Apple Watch because Apple won´t let me update my watch without WIFI?

I use 5G and can update my iPhone over 5G, but I am not allowed to update my Apple watch.

Am I wrong when it comes to not being able to update without WIFI? If yes, what can then be the reason for “An error occurred”?

Thanks for replying.

Fierjack, thank you for replying.

Weird decision by Apple. I am allowed to update my iPhone over 5G. I can update my Mac over 5G. I surf the net over my iPhone. I stream 4K tv over my iPhone. All is done without WIFI.

But updating my Apple Watch over 5G isn´t allowed by Apple. Weird decision!

Well I guess I won´t be buying a new Apple watch any day soon.

 Thanks again.
