Airtag - would a thief be able to scan after my Airtag?

Would a not so nice guy not be able to scan e.g. my cycle to see if I have added an airtag??

Similar questions

AirTags seem to have been designed to notify a thief if they steal a tagged item. Furthermore, after a theft the thief has been given instructions so that they may disable the AirTag. Is this generally the situation?

airtag to help alert for a theft? Instead of keys or wallet those items I carry with me, what if I attach AirTag to my valuable item that I have kept at home, can I set an alert to me once that valuable item is taken out away from my home (for example, got stolen from my home and so I will be alert right away )
