What was being done to bring up the Globe Icon ? It seems to be your tried Booting into Internet Recovery Mode
If you can't start up from macOS Recovery

globe icon is a button, you tap it and keyboard language changes to other. it is very usual thing on mobile phones and tablets. i don't know, is there a globe button on a mac keyboard, but you can change language on the top of desktop :)
