I have a new 6-CD audio boxed set importing into iTunes

When I insert the CD, iTunes asks me if I want to import the CD under the name of the entire collection or as the title of the original album. I chose “collection” with the first CD but changed my mind, and cancelled the import on that particular CD. With the other CDs, I imported the way I wanted; as individual albums. Unfortunately, since I selected “collection” with that first CD, iTunes does not bring up that default window when I insert that CD again. I tried holding down the shift key, the option key to bring it back. Nothing. What are my options here?

Hello michaelinjapan,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities Site. We are happy to help you!

We have taken the time to provide some helpful information regarding the issue you seem to be having with the import options when using iTunes:

Import songs from CDs into iTunes on Mac

"Choose what happens when you insert a CD

  1. In the iTunes app  on your Mac, choose iTunes > Preferences, then click General.
  2. Click the “When a CD is inserted” pop-up menu, then choose an option:
    • Show CD: iTunes opens the CD but doesn’t play or import it.
    • Play CD: iTunes begins playing the CD without importing it.
    • Ask to Import CD: iTunes opens the CD and asks if you want to import it.
    • Import CD: iTunes automatically imports the CD.
    • Import CD and Eject: iTunes imports the CD, then ejects it. This is a good option if you plan to import a lot of CDs."

"If you have trouble importing songs from an audio CD

  • If you have more than one CD or DVD drive, try using iTunes with each drive."

We hope this finds you well!

Cheers!

Hi Jeff, this is helpful but does not address the impetus for my query. It seems when a CD is first introduced to an iTunes Library, a query is sent by iTunes to Gracenote and that small list of options comes back to the user. IE: This disc could either be the original album, or the original album as part of the series. I choose one, is there a way to revert so that I get the choice again, if I have made it already?
