I am trying to retrieve years of text messages that I would like to save. Every time I scroll back through text messages it starts to crash after about six months, then the beach ball spins. I have tried all of the troubleshooting recommendations that have been suggested when an app crashes but it remains the same. Thanks for any help.

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Thanks, I tried all of these methods including reinstalling the latest update but continues to freeze.
