iPad keeps restarting once I unlock/key in the password

The iPad is not currently backed up, I've tried using my MacBook Finder to back it up but I can't click 'trust this computer' on my iPad. I've tried putting the iPad in recovery mode and updating it from there but that failed. I'm aware that I'll have to restore it eventually but is there anyway for me to not lose my iPad data (or even just part of it)? The battery is not the problem here.
