i've fixed this problem myself. if ur iphone or ipod IS detected by ur computer but does NOT show up in itunes under devices i have a fix. First u must idetify that your windows computer idetifies the device as something in mycomputer/computer. (the problem is that the drives on windows say the ipod/iphone is a digital camera)

NOTE: VIDEO ON HOW TO DO THIS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pVbIeSfvfI
Step 1: identify that windows recognizes that the ipod/iphone is a camera or something (doesnt really matter.)MAKE SURE UR IPOD/IPHONE is plugged in.
Step 2: open device manager. found in control panel under hardware<< OPEN DEVICE MANAGER
STep 3: look for the ipod/iphone (found usually under portable devices or imiging devices. RIGHT-CLICK ON THE DEVICE AND CLICK update driver software. Choose browse my computer for driver software.
Step 4: CLICK BROWSE then go to C:/Program files/common files/apple/mobile device support/drives
CLICK ON DRIVES THEN HIT OK. CLICK NEXT AND YOU ARE DONE!
