how can i remove the activation lock on ipad. my company owns the ipad and have replaced older unit with newer

If your company owns the iPad they presumably manage/supervise the device via an MDM. I know that JAMF MDM allows an administrator to de-activate the lock or send you a de-activation code. Otherwise, the owner of the device (your workplace) can request a clearing of the activation lock through Apple. As a school administrator I have done that several times. It takes a few days.

Pick an option from the Related Article above, or start an unlock request, or if the iPad's managed by Apple Configurator, turn it off that way.
