MacBook Air (13", 2015) after Update is installed, the function keys with speaker icons to adjust the volume and the function keys to adjust the brightness of the keys do not work anymore.

In System Preferences > Keyboard panel, have you selected [ ] Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys? If you have, you can use the Fn modifier key in conjunction with the symbolic key to gain that functionality, or you can simply deselect the Preference setting to restore the symbolic key result.

switching back to internal sound device is reactivating the adjustment volume keys
Funnily enough, the brightness adjust for the keyboard keys also works again, don't ask why :)
How to reset the SMC of your Mac and do this 3 times consecutively.
If that does not fix things - try the Safe Mode >> Shift << immediately at restart and Test.
Yes, please keep us updated after Safe Boot. If still success - might be time to have the machine evaluated by Apple Service Centre.
What is the sound output that is selected?
This could be normal.
Do you have output sound on your speakers or headphones, or do you have another sound selected, maybe an HDMI display, or perhaps some other device. With most external devices you cannot change the volume using these buttons and have to change on the device.
Hi VikingOSX, no, Use F1, F2, etc. keys was not selected, when I press the Volume up/down keys it looks like this
