Series 3 watch only has 4.8 of memory

I get that the iOS uses a lot of the memory but EVERY single time a new update comes out, I have to delete all apps, pics, etc AND still cannot complete the update. I always have to do a factory reset and try to update.

my question is, why would Apple knowingly sell a product that cannot be updated on a normal basis without going through all these hoops?

I mean, I have nothing on my watch and still cannot update.
