Home folder size

My Home folder is huge but contents listed are small... why?

iCloud Drive is not off computer storage but a syncing feature. Anything on the iCloud Drive is mirrored on your Mac in Users/Home/Library/Mobile Documents folder. So you're not saving any storage space by using iCloud Drive unless you select Optimize Mac Storage. Then the savings is not immediate.


Also look in the Downloads folder for installer dmg files. Once used they can be deleted. Many users have found a couple of Gigabytes of files in their Downloads folder which are no longer needed.
