I too had this problem. I spent a day trying to recover my Ipassword data after the 14.5.1 update. Checked with Apple which was a dead end, surfed the internet for solutions and finally came up with one that worked for me. I downloaded the trial version of iMazing software which extracted the iPassword software/data which I was able to install on an old phone that I have.
I did have to go into my purchases in the App store with the old iphone 5 and download iPassword from there as it no longer shows up in the general app store list. Once I had iPassword on my iphone 5 iMazing populated the password data from the backup I made from my iphone XS. I downloaded the iMazing software from their website rather than on CNet or other aggregators of software online, seemed less sketchy to me, plus, there are tutorials on their website. . Anyway, the free version worked for me, I'm thinking of buying it just to support the company for saving me the headache of resetting all of those passwords.
Pretty unacceptable that an update would brick software that's so mission critical without warning. Maybe Apple could write into iOS updates a list of software that would become incompatible before the update is installed? Then users can make sure they have a backup of their data.
same thing happened to me, I’m soooo upset, because I can’t get back to the prior version, iPassword is no longer active, no updates, hundreds of passwords are locked up in there, no way to retrieve
On behalf of MRevelles solution{thank you MRevlles}
Download the new "password manager"free vision and open iTunes and restore from backup
It worked for me.
it should work on dropbox and wifi as well
If you want to switch to 1Password, I found this:
https://support.1password.com/import/
The data would have to be in CSV format. They have a desktop version as well as a mobile version.
go to page 1 of this forum, look for user Cpen, he has the solution if you have an older phone/ipad that's not updated to V14.5 yet.
download iMazing software, backup and restore, worked for me.
Read the thread. There are a couple solutions on how to get your data. There is no solution for using the app once your phone has been updated to 14.5.
Apple does not support un-installing or backing out of an iOS update. We've got to get the developer to fix it, or give us a workaround to backup our old data.
It has a different name now, it is in the App Store and has been mentioned in this thread several times.
The fix is in this forum. Go read CPens method.
All evidence points to the fact that the developer is not going to fix this.
I got on my old phone and pulled passcodes off one by one. Not ideal but at least I could re-save them
I used an old phone they didn’t update to get the password off. Hope this helps.
No! iPassword is useless with the newer version. iMazing is our only option to transfer the old version data to a iOS that supports the old version.
Reinstall an older backup (1 month old) of your phone on an older iPhone that hasn’t been updated. You’ll gain access to the app and can write down all your passwords.
worked for me
Read the thread.
If you want a response from Apple click on the Get Support link at the top right of this page. In the meantime read this thread.
