When will there be an update to the iPassword app for iOS 14.5? I'm unable to get to my passwords.

I am also having the same problem with iPassword! I have years of passwords saved in the iPassword app which I had paid for ad free. Now I cannot access any of the data. I am furious with both apple and the developer that this has happened with now prior notice so I could download my data to protect it.

Oh this week was a technology nightmare like no other when i mindlessley updated my iPhone to ios15 (i was previously using 14.something) but thank you NING256 for your tips. I had an old iPad ios12.4.6 and used iMazing free version via my PC to retrieve over 6 years of passwords. What a relief. I had very old phone backups on my PC via itunes but did not want to restore from there as many more passwords had been collected since my last 2019 itunes backup.

Things were not so smooth in restoring via iMazing, as the the application asked for the "encrypted backup password" before it could create a copy of my old ipassword app data. I didn't ever recall creating a password and thought it was game over for me - my PC would not let me create an iphone backup locally, as it was all greyed out for some reason. In desperation I decided to backup my iPhone to the cloud (which you sorta said in Step 1 of your instructions but I foolishled decided to ignore) and after that iMazing stopped complaining (no longer asked for the encryption password) and dutifully backed up the old ipassword app data to my PC. That was a euphoric feeling, I knew I had a copy then.

The old iPad enabled me to restore ipassword exactly as you described in Step 7. And then iMazing quite happily restored the app data for the backup now copied on my PC. I skipped around the office all day, despite losing many hours of sleep.

So my big tip here is, if you have forgotten your itunes encryption backup password, then try an icloud backup on your phone before attempting to start with the app data backup using iMazing. Good luck people. And I will be looking for another password manager now, I just can't go back to this one on principle.

How I restored my iPassword iPhone App after the ios 14.5 iPhone Upgrade

I backup my iPhone to my mac via iTunes and not to iCloud so the iCloud solutions weren’t working for me. I tried backing up and restoring the app from Imazing directly as mentioned in other posts, but I kept getting an error when I tried to backup the app and Imazing support couldn’t resolve it.

I contacted Imazing support for help several times they gave me another solution which is a rendition of leosydney solution that is on this forum. Those steps didn’t work until I made an adjustment to one of the steps and I was finally successful after 4 days of trying to find a solution. Note: I did purchase Imazing so I did this with the purchased version.

Here's what I did differently than what was outlined in the leosydney instructions (see the step by step instructions below my summary that I’m referring to)

I followed steps 1 - 10, but I couldn't find the new iPassword Pro app within my editable iPhone 8 Plus App directory, even though it was on my iPhone 8 Plus. Maybe the backup didn't capture it. But I was able to get my XFFile's out of the iPhone 8 Plus but I couldn't copy the XFFile's back into the New iPassword Pro app on this iPhone 8 Plus editable backup because the new iPassword Pro app was missing.

Instead of using my iphone to restore back to (and this is what I different than the instruction below outlined), I used my friends old iPhone X that has 14.2. ( which is an IOS that works with this app before IOS 14.5 crashed this app) I had reset and erased that iPhone X which retained the 14.2 IOS and I setup my AppleID on it and downloaded the new iPassword Pro app to it from my apple iphone purchases.

Then I made an editable backup, through Imazing (which is outlined in the steps below), of my friends iPhone X that has 14.2 on it. Then within its editable backup, I went to the Apps folder and went to the New iPasssword Pro app and I was able to paste my XFFiles that I copied out from my iPhone 8 Plus where the app wasn't opening.

I followed the instructions of copying back the XFFiles to the new iPassword Pro app outlined in the document: Steps 11 - 15 and I restored that editable backup to the iPhone X and went in and looked at the new iPassword Pro App and all my passwords were there.

I had to get creative to get around this problem but restoring to a different iPhone worked for me.

All my passwords are now in the new iPassword Pro app on my friends iphone X.

On my friends iPhone X, I went into the new iPassword Pro app, clicked Backup and Restore via DropBox. It created a file in my DropBox account.

Note: You have to have the DropBox app on both iphones and create a DropBox account for this to work.

Also note, the old iPasssword app backup file is called something like iPassword_2021_09_30.backup. You’ll need to rename it to iPassword.backup.

So after you backed up the file within the new iPassword Pro App via DropBox and its now in the DropBox portal, you’ll see the backup file that was created from the old iPassword app and its called something like “iPassword_2021_09_30.backup”

Rename it to “iPassword.backup”

Then I went to my iPhone 8 Plus and opened the new iPassword Pro app and went to Backup and Restore via DropBox and clicked Restored and choose the iPassword.backup file.

I think I had to do the restore step twice and it finally worked, so be patient it’ll show up.

Now I have all my passwords back on my iPhone in the new iPassword Pro app.

--- These are  step by step instructions I’m referring to that I followed with the exception of using a different iPhone to restore an editable copy.

1. Download the "Password Manager" app which is the same app as ipassword with the same logo except it has gold border around it. You will need to search for "ipassword" in the app store.

2. Download and install imazing from

3. Launch imazing and connect your phone to the computer.

4. Right click iphone on the left hand side under "Available"

5. Select "Create a editable copy of this backup"

6. A copy will be created under, expand and go inside this backup and click on "File System" on the left under your phone

7. Then go to Apps

8. Locate old ipassword app

9. Expand it and go inside to locate "Library" folder

10. Right click XFFile folder and select "copy to PC"

11. Locate the new password manager app and got to its "Library" folder

12. Right click and select "copy to Library". Select the XFFile folder in your PC that you just exported out.

13. Now all your settings should be in the new password app.

14. Right click on the back up and restore your iphone with "Restore this backup to Device." Restore will only work for licensed imazing.

15. Once restored, you should be able to see your accounts in the new password manager app.

If you forgotten your Itunes backup, you can find your iTunes backup password in your Keychain Access if you have a Mac

Way 1: Recover iTunes backup password with Keychain Access on Mac

Keychain Access is a password manager built in Mac, which stores a variety of passwords for website, email account, servers, iTunes backup, etc. When you back up your iPhone to your Mac using iTunes and check the "Encrypt iPhone backup" option, iTunes will pop up a dialog asking you to enter your password and if you want to remember your password in the Keychain. If you check the "Remember this password in my Keychain" option, your iTunes backup password will be stored in the Keychain. So you can open Keychain to recover your iTunes backup password once you forgot it.

Step 1: Open Finder, and click Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access.

Step 2: After the Keychain Access application opens, select Login on the left side. So on the right side, you will see a list of websites and applications that use Keychain Access to store login information. Look for the item named "iPhone Backup" from the list, and double-click it if you find it.

Tips: If your iPhone Backup is not listed here, which means your iPhone backup password is not stored in Keychain.

Step 3: The window showing iPhone backup info will open, as shown below. With the Attributes selected, check the "Show Password" checkbox.

Step 4: Enter the "login" Keychain password, which is your Mac OS user password by default, and then click "Allow".

Step 5: Now, you are back to the previous window, on which it is now showing your iTunes backup password in the plain text next to "Show Password".
