Applecare+ for Powerbeats Pro

According to the website AppleCare+ is available to purchase for my Powerbeats Pro, but when I enter the serial # on the website it tells me it is not available for my items (I bought 2 pairs, 1 for husband & myself). I had the same issues with my daughters Airpods2, but after a few days hers went through. I bought them from a large retail chain so I'm sure they're not fake, I thought maybe the retailer had to notify apple these serial #'s had been sold? I'm trying to save a trip to the mall to have it done in the store, any suggestions?
