Communication Limits on Apple Watch

I have downtime turned on for my phone. I also have communication limits set to only contact specific people during downtime. All of the settings are working properly on my iphone and for the most part on my watch. However, I can still access all of my contacts through my watch. The specific contacts chosen works on my iphone but not on my watch. How can I limit the contacts on my watch during downtime?

Hello again Nina1050,

Thanks for the follow-up info. Schooltime does not disable communication, but rather silences the notifications to the Watch. Currently, the ability to limit communication with contact via the Apple Watch is not an available function. And, if you set a Schooltime schedule for your child's Watch you'll receive a report if its has been disabled.

You are also able to schedule the Schooltime on your Watch by going to the Watch app on your iPhone > tap your Watch > tap Done then Schooltime. Turn on Schooltime, then tap Edit Schedule. From there you are able to select days and time to enable this feature, as well as customize the schedule. Get more info on this here:

A couple questions:

1) Does that limit all contacts? I’d still like to be able to reach out to some people. And with my child I don’t want him to be able to send/receive texts to friends during downtime but I want to be able to reach him. It sounds like he would be able to still respond if he wanted by exiting momentarily. This is primarily for night time, not during the day.

2) How so I set up the hours? When I try it on my watch it’s either on or off (I can exit whenever I want) but can’t figure out how to set the time limits.

Hi again! Thanks for this info! Downtime for the watch does work because it was working with my child’s watch before. I would change downtime on his phone and it would automatically apply to his watch so he couldn’t text/call past a certain time at night. Long story short, we took his phone to an Apple store for a new battery, the phone broke in their care, they gave us a new (refurbished) phone and now downtime no longer connects with his watch. 🤷🏽‍♀️
