How can I transfer 8mm film to Final Cut Pro

A year ago I let a service digitize 4.5 hours old Super 8 films frame by frame. It was pricey (about 7.6 €/min for that amount) but IMHO worth it. I edited the unique frame ProRes 422 HQ version in FCP (they also gave me a 25 fps mp4 version).

Depending on your location, you might be able to find a convenient film to video conversion service to do the transfer for you.

In the US, for example, Costco has a service:

There are other services available, transferring in all kinds of quality levels, if you do a Google search:
