sent text message, how do i know whether its been opened?
I sent a text message to someone, there is a half moon shaped icon beside the receivers name. Does this mean I am blocked or that they have not read the message?

Hi cathe120,
Thank you for posting on Apple Support Communities.
First, to answer the question about the half moon besides the receivers name... This means that you have muted that conversation so any message that come in will be silenced. "When Hide Alerts is on, a crescent moon icon will appear next to the conversation. This stops notifications only for that conversation, not your device. You’ll still receive all other messages and see notifications for them on your Lock screen."
Check this resource for more details. Use Messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Now, when it comes to knowing if someone has read your message, this feature is only available in iMessages (someone with another iPhone or Apple device) and only if that other person has turned on "send read receipts" in their settings.
Hope this helps
