AirPods Pro’s

I recently received a box through apple to place my AirPods into, and be shipped and repaired by apple warranty. Due to my right AirPod being messed up, it will not fit in the AirPods case properly. Should I lay the broken AirPod on top of the AirPods case placed in the box and then proceed to seal it as said in the instructions that came in the box? If not what should I do?
